Santa Ana (CA)— Steven Nguyen, candidate for Rancho Santiago Community College District Area 5, announced today that he has been endorsed by Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens.

Coast Community College District Board President David Grant Endorses Vong Xavier Nguyen for Coast Community College District, Area 2

“When I endorse someone, it is because I know they are best fit for that position,” said Trustee Grant. “I have never met someone as passionate for our community colleges as Vong Nguyen and his experience as a former student gives us someone on board that can truly relate to our students. I know Mr. Nguyen will represent Area 2 well, especially since it is the district’s only majority Asian area.”

Trustee David Grant began his career with the Coast Community College District as an administrator at Orange Coast College. He dedicated 34 years to this role, before being appointed Orange Coast College’s fifth president from 1989 until his retirement in 1995. He was elected to the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees in 2010 and was re-elected in 2014. Continue reading→

Rocco chosen over Pauly to author the anti-Measure S (OUSD) argument

Guess who beat Deborah Pauly with an Anti-Measure S ballot argument? Believe it or not, former Orange Unified School District Trustee Steve Rocco was picked to be the author of the Anti-Measure S Ballot argument. (Measure S is the latest attempt by the OUSD to pass a bond measure). Rocco apparently won over Pauly via a coin toss.

Pauly’s luck seems to be not getting any better. You might recall that Paul, a former Villa Park City Councilwoman, was arrested last year (and still faces charges) for an alleged DUI, then lost her recent Assembly primary race, and now she has been beaten by Rocco in the race to author the anti-OUSD Measure S Ballot Argument. Governor Signs Huff CA Education Code Cleanup Bill

SB 1211 Closes Chapter on old Funding Mechanism and Helps Remove Confusion

SACRAMENTO: Legislation designed to amend the California Education Code by removing sections that were dropped during adoption of the Local Control Funding Formula is now law in California thanks to the Governor’s signature on SB 1211. Senator Bob Huff (R-San Dimas) introduced the measure earlier this year at the request of the California School Boards Association. His legislative effort was needed after the State Legislature took action to abolish the old system of education funding through the adoption of AB 97. Continue reading→
