Supervisor Michelle Steel Elected 2017 Board Chairwoman

Supervisor Andrew Do Will Serve as Vice Chair

Supervisor Michelle Steel, Second District, has been chosen unanimously by her colleagues to serve as chairwoman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors for 2017. Supervisor Andrew Do, First District, will serve as the Board’s vice chair.

Supervisor Steel was elected in November 2014 and is the first Korean American to serve on the County of Orange’s Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Steel previously served as Vice Chair of California’s State Board of Equalization. She also served under President George W. Bush as Commissioner of the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders from 2001 until April 2004. Supervisor Steel holds a degree in Business from Pepperdine University, an Executive MBA from the University of Southern California, and is fluent in Korean and Japanese. Continue reading→

Rohrabacher may be retiring as Baugh has filed to run for his House seat

It looks like U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is going to retire from the 48th Congressional District. Former OC GOP Chairman Scott Baugh has quietly filed for a campaign committee for Rohrabacher’s seat, with the Federal Election Commission. And Baugh has purchased a URL, http://www.baugh4congress.com.

There is no way that Baugh would challenge Rohrabacher. The OC GOP frowns on challenging their own incumbents. (Just look at how awful Don Wagner looks as he lamely runs against State Senator John Moorlach!) Continue reading→

Supervisor Lisa Bartlett Elected 2016 Board Chairwoman

Supervisor Michelle Steel Will Serve as Vice Chair

(Santa Ana, CA) –Supervisor Lisa Bartlett, Fifth District, has been chosen unanimously by her colleagues to serve as chairwoman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors for 2016. Supervisor Michele Steel, Second District, will serve as the Board’s vice chair.

This is Supervisor Bartlett’s second year on the Board. She was elected in November 2014 and took office in December 2014. Supervisor Bartlett began her involvement in local governance in 2006 when she was elected to the Dana Point City Council. She later served as the Dana Point Mayor Pro Tem in 2007-08 and as Mayor in 2009 and 2014. She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business administration. Continue reading→
