GARDEN GROVE - California Fair Political Practices Commission Enforcement Division Spokesperson Chloe Hackert confirmed today that the State’s Ethics Committee would investigate a new complaint against County Supervisor Andrew Do.

The complaint which was filed by Do’s opponent Garden Grove City Councilmember Phat Bui, accuses Do of violation of the California General Code Section 82025 misusing $60,490 solicited from a Buddhist Temple and private companies which were earmarked for a “Mile Square Park Public Art/Historic Project.” Continue reading→

COUNTY COUNSEL STALLS REQUEST FOR PUBLIC RECORDS RELATED TO SUPERVISOR ANDREW DO’S CONTROVERSIAL TAXPAYER FUNDED MASS MAILINGS

GARDEN GROVE — County Counsel Leon Page has stalled a request for public records filed by County Supervisor Candidate Phat Bui for six weeks and might never release the records before the June 7th Primary Election.

The Public Records Act Request covers a controversial series of taxpayer funded mass mailing sent by Supervisor Andrew Do to his constituents. The mailers are now under investigation by the California Fair Political Practices Commission. County Auditor Controller Eric Woolery initially refused to pay for the mailers stating, “There is concern the mailers might go beyond what is legal.” Continue reading→

OCBE Trustee Requests Investigation into Anti-Gay Slurs

COSTA MESA, CA. - David L. Boyd, a Trustee serving on the Orange County Board of Education, will request at the May meeting of the Board a briefing by legal counsel on what constitutes a hostile work environment as well as an investigation into the conduct of another trustee.

This request is a result of an e-mail written by Trustee Robert Hammond in April 2014 to an employee of the Orange County Department of Education where Hammond wrote “I hope you don’t mind, but I plan on asking you about your sexual orientation publicly during our next board meeting.” The email was recently made public as a result of a public records request. FPPC TO INVESTIGATE SUPERVISOR ANDREW DO’S MASS MAILINGS SENT AT PUBLIC EXPENSE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 21, 2024

GARDEN GROVE — The California Fair Political Practices Commission announced today that it will investigate a complaint against Orange County First District Supervisor Andrew Do filed by his opponent Garden Grove City Councilmember Phat Bui.

Bui’s complaint asked the FPPC to investigate a series of mass mailings sent at public expense by Andrew Do to residents of the first district that may violate State law prohibiting public officials from sending campaign style mailers to voters using public funds. Continue reading→
